Membership Registration

Membership of Research Institute of Traditional & Alternative Medicine is an NGO to promote evidence-based medicine. It is open to practitioners of Traditional and Alternative Medicine. There are three categories of membership. The first is for practitioners who are custodians of traditional medicinal products who want to develop these products and have the protection for the intellectual property rights. The second category are practitioners who want to avail themselves of the opportunity to use developed products in their practice. The third category are academics, scientists and medical doctors who wish to incorporate traditional medicine into their practice.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

Prospective members could register on line by completing the membership form. Registration could also be done by collecting the membership form at the office of RITAM located at 14, Unity Road, Ikeja during week days between 10.00am and 3.00pm. Members whose applications are successful would be advised by e-mail and would be required to pay the membership fees into a designated bank account. GOALS AND VISIONS OF RITAM:

  • To prospect, harness, evaluate and certify diagnostic, curative and preventive values of safe Nigerian Traditional Medicine Products thereby developing a resource compendium of medicines for the Primary Health Care Centre {PHC} in all the 774 Local Government Areas of Nigeria as well as for the use of all Traditional and Alternative Medicine Practitioners in Nigeria and overseas.
  • To find lasting solutions to W.H.O priority list of diseases i.e. Malaria, Hypertension, Diabetes, Sickle Cell Anemia and HIV / AIDS through Nigerian Traditional Medicine. 
  • To have a comprehensive data of Nigerian Traditional Medicine Products that should be recommended for preclinical and human trials at Nigerian Institute of  Pharmaceutical Research and Development {NIPRD} and Nigeria Institute for Medical Research {NIMR} in the process of their becoming Herbal Drugs.
  • To collaborate with all Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Science and Technology, Education and other relevant Government Agencies to propagate Traditional and Alternative Medicine in Nigeria.
  • To position Traditional Medicine Products from Nigeria in the international market thereby making TM Products the highest income generating industry for the country.
  • To encourage mass production of certified Nigerian Traditional Medicine Products
